At Roots and Wings we believe that:
Learning requires respect for the child.
We listen to the child to uncover their interests, actively engage in their play and ask questions to further knowledge.
An environment should inspire the child.
We put out novel materials daily to provoke inquiry. Children select paint, pencils, clay and wire to express the concepts they’ve learned.
Teachers are collaborators, and students of the child.
Teacher and child together determine and undertake long-term projects.
Documentation of the child’s thoughts guides more learning.
Documenting thoughts through words, recordings, and artwork in a portfolio illustrates each child’s journey.
