What’s Cooking?

At Roots and Wings, we cook our snacks with what’s in season each month. Whole foods provide a vibrant and engaging medium that children can see, touch, smell and taste.  Each month we pick a few different types of produce to cook and learn with.  Fresh applesauce and pumpkin bread are favorites in the fall, berry parfaits in the summer and winter green smoothies in the colder months to name a few!

Our explorations go past the kitchen too … you might find us weighing pumpkins and peeling apples in the fall, sorting tomatoes by size in the summer, counting peas in the spring or writing and drawing recipes for citrus juices in the winter.
