Let’s Eat!


We serve only the best foods we can think of at Roots and Wings.  Nutritious snacks and milk are included. Children set the table and pour their own milk. This helps the children’s growing independence and confidence.   We also believe that food is an important, over-looked aspect of a child’s day.  We slow down to talk about our food and encourage each other to try new things.

We participate in the local community sponsored agriculture program, which delivers a crate of fresh fruits and vegetables each week of the growing season.  We also make foods together, like pumpkin bread, whole wheat pizzas and kale-apple smoothies, to name a few!  In the spring, we start our garden and composting projects, to grow some of our foods.  We find the children delight in taking part in their food’s preparation – from ground to table!  Each month we study various in season foods, introducing the children to new tastes, flavors and textures in kid-friendly recipes.
